Thrice-crowned NBA MVP Nikola Jokic endured a "devastating" injury to his knee while the Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 against the Heat.
The star player sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter following an unintentional contact with fellow Nugget Jones.
The other player landed on the foot of the big man, who immediately collapsed to the ground grabbing his knee.
The veteran player, that leads the NBA this season in boards and dimes, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the game before incurring the setback.
The player will have an MRI on the following day to determine the severity of the injury.
"Right away, Jokic knew he was hurt," said Denver head coach Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Whoever who is injured, it's tough to see, particularly somebody as special as him. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"We'll move on together. Of course, at this moment, I am more worried just about him personally and the letdown of going through an event like that."
