The President Invites Relatives of Shot Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

White House Call

The president explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told the press. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Mourners came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support public safety in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” the principal, the head of her previous school, informed the press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to assist people.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Actions and Government Adjustments

Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy caused the government to halt refugee claims and halt issuing entry permits to holders of travel documents.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a resident of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit the family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” the governor told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
