The American champion Confident of Being 'in prime form' for the upcoming Winter Olympics

Alpine star Lindsey Vonn has declared she will be "in a good place" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, after earning a place on the rostrum for the fourth time in her last five World Cup competitions.

The veteran athlete, who last week set a record by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This represented her 142nd career World Cup top-three result.

Strong Return in the French Alps

Competing at the French Alps resort for the first occasion in almost a decade, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was just over a third of a second behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing second place.

"I was slightly lacking enough direction on the initial jump," the skier commented. "From that point on, I skied well. I'm satisfied with my run today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was too conservative."

This result was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also taken third in the downhill race on Saturday.

An Incredible Return from Retirement

Vonn ended her career in February 2019 because of ongoing knee problems. However, she made a stunning return in December 2024 following a major knee surgery.

With 47 days remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are set to run from 6-22 February, Vonn's form are highly promising.

She boasts one gold and two Olympic bronze medals from previous Games and is firmly on track to compete for the United States at the next Olympics.

"When we get to Cortina, I will be where I need to be," the athlete confirmed.

Aiming for Further Glory

In addition to her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four overall crystal globes she has accumulated over a professional journey spanning two decades.

She currently holds a substantial lead at the summit of the overall downhill standings and is ranked fifth in the overall super-G standings.

This season's World Cup campaign includes a total of nine races taking place before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on 21 March 2026.
