Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his future after a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase like this with results like these.”

He finished, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
