Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, although the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.
The streaming service revealed Tuesday that the talented performer has joined the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will embody Mr. 2. This character has the ability to transform into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve touched with their right hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that character reimagined as non-binary, instead of as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, as in the initial comic and animated series.
Escola will work alongside a number of fresh additions set to bring the organization to the screen, including chief the main antagonist, portrayed by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and a familiar face, who is also part of the lineup as the ruler of Alabasta.
Though Bon Clay is a important part of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. Considering the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this marks a major departure in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest further changes to the narrative framework.
Escola’s blend of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the character. Along with their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its season two on March 10, 2026.
