Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is unclear and the US has remained silent.
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
